Advanced Thermal Gliding

A number of flyers have indicated that they would be interested in an Advanced Electric Gliding Competition.

There will be 3 events during the year, which could possibly be run on the same days as other Gliding Competitions, but later in the day, when the flight line is less busy.

Competition Rules

Glider type – Rudder, Elevator (or V-tail), & Ailerons. Optional Flaps or Air Brakes

No telemetry assistance to be used either directly or indirectly.

Slot time - Contest Organiser calls start time when Pilots are ready.
Slot time to finish 90 Minutes later. No test flights by competitors during this time.

Launch time - 30 seconds motor run, timing & points scoring finishes if motor is used outside this time.

Three scoring flights within slot time. One aborted flight allowed per competition, provided Pilot calls ‘abort’ before 15 seconds. Pilot to touch the model between flights.

Each competitor is responsible for securing a timekeeper and recording results.

Points  - One point for every second in the air up to 15 minutes. Landing bonus of 100 points for landing on the patch within the 15 minutes. No Points will be scored after the 90mins slot time.

Winner of the round is the Pilot with most points. Winner of the Series is the Pilot with most points overall.

Return timesheets & £1 entry fee, to the Contest Organiser, whose decisions are final.
