The third month of this year’s competition and as predicted the weather has improved! Not a lot, but enough to see no less than six 10 minute maxes appearing on the score sheets. Of course there were many more 10 minute flights this month but, as usual, they were the practice flights before deciding to go for the times! Well done Ian, the second win from three rounds gives a good start to the season. Mike continues to confound the critics and produce good scores in his first season, well done. Next month needs a different winner (I’m sure Ian won’t agree with me on this one!) to keep first place hanging in the balance, remember that it is the best six scores to count.

Keep practising and happy thermalling.

The second month of this year’s competition and once again a mad rush to get a time due to poor weather. As I remarked last month “ The weather WILL get better” soon……………Well after last month’s flying start Ian finds himself, along with Chris, at the bottom of the results this month. Glenn and Peter reversed last month’s positions and instead of being at the bottom have come second and third respectively. This month we have a new winner, at only his second attempt, following up a good forth place in March with his first win was Mike. Congratulations Mike.  Happy thermalling.

The first month of this year’s competition and up to the 25th no scores had been posted. That all changed on a cold and showery 26th of March with three scores and a sunny but gusty 26th and only one ten minute flight out of 21 attempts. The last two days were not much better, but, we have a healthy entry of nine pilots and the promise of an interesting competition throughout the summer. The weather WILL get better……………Well done to Ian, getting off to a flying start, with a 25 second win and to  our two new  tyro glider pilots, Mike and Roland, in 4th and 6th positions. Happy thermalling.
