With a strong easterly wind overall flight times were short, but we weren’t short on close competition. Once again many of the individual rounds resulted in close finishes. Malcolm flew his much repaired Swift, Geoff flew his much modified glider, whilst the remainder of the pilots flew various Apollo variants. All pilots and models coped well with the strong winds.
Peter mastered the conditions on the day and remained unbeaten; Ian lost only one round to gain second place, but this was sufficient to give him the overall series win with 36 points out of a possible 40. Second overall in the series was Chris with 35 points and in third place was Peter with 34 points - a very close finish.
By popular demand we plan to run the same round robin series again in 2011. After another successful and enjoyable season there is no need for any change to the rules, so they remain the same for yet another year. Wing rib sets and a moulded fuselage will soon be available for those wishing to build a model for next year. Help is available, if required, from Peter or myself. Details are also available in the Low-Cost 600RES section on the Wessex League website: www.wessexaml.co.uk We look forward to next season and welcome the new entrants who are already preparing new models for 2011.
