What glorious weather and idyllic conditions in which to fly vintage planes! The set task of a six minute flight time after stopping the motor, together with a landing on the patch sounds simple enough but only two pilots made it back to the patch on all of their flights. Congratulations to Phil who flew consistently with just a little over the six minutes for each flight, to achieve yet another win this year. In the Vintage (non-Club Model Playboy class) Chris had his usually reliable OS40 motor cut immediately after take-off and clearing the fence. A quick circuit ensured the 50 points for landing on the patch. Although putting in two good flights after that mishap, it was not enough to beat the brushless-powered Playboy Senior of Malcolm, even though Malcolm used the quarry for his final landing! The only maximum score of the day was flown by Chris, who scored the maximum of 410 points, on his last flight with the i/c powered Playboy Senior. Here’s food for thought, only 60% of the flights landed on the patch to score the 50 point bonus. It was a great day and from your reaction it was enjoyed by both competitors and spectators alike. Same again next year.
