Phoenix Model Flying Club (Dorset)

About Us

Club History

Our club was originally known as the Blandford Model Flying Club, flying on the Blandford Army Camp site. A change of camp commander resulted in the loss of this site in 1979/80. After a few short-term stays at other locations the present site was obtained in 1982. It was decided that, as the club no longer operated at Blandford, a new name should be found and after a competition the one chosen was the "Phoenix Model Flying Club". Subsequently, late in 2002, we added the county name "(Dorset)" to the title, to distinguish us from the multitude of other "Phoenix" clubs around the world.
